Established in 1985 in Kirriemuir as the Kirriemuir & District Wargames Society this friendly club of 30+ members voted at its AGM in 2004 to move to new club rooms in Forfar and in the same year, it's members decided to adopt a new updated constitution and to change the clubs name to more accurately reflect the area the club drew it's members from by becoming "The Angus wargames Club".
The club was also the first club to run an annual wargames show in this part of Scotland with Skelp being established in Kirriemuir in 1986, 20 years before its nearest rival, the show was held in Kirriemuir in the Glengate Hall and then the Town Hall every year until it was forced to follow the club to Forfar in 2005 when it's regular show date in it's traditional Kirriemuir venue became unavailable for that year.
The club meets fortnightly on saturdays between 7pm -11pm and has a large supply of tables and terrain available for use by its members, who have a very wide and varied list of gaming interests covering historical Air, land and Naval wargaming with historical periods which include Ancients,ECW,SYW,AWI,Napoleonic,Colonial, WW1, WW2, Modern along with Science Fiction & Fantasy gaming including LOTR, Warhammer,40K,Space Hulk, Urban War & War Machine.
New members (12+) and visitors are always welcome, so if you live in the Angus/Dundee area or are visiting the area and like wargaming or would just like to try it (No experience required) please feel free to come along to our next meeting.
